RTF Collaborative Project Funding 2015

The Thompson Foundation has supported the Neuroblastoma and Medulloblastoma Translational Research Consortium (NMTRC) which is a group of 25 universities and children's hospitals that offer a nationwide network of childhood cancer clinical trials led by the team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.  The NMTRC mission is to create a national collaborative effort of researchers, oncologists and patient advocates to bring forward new therapies for children with relapsed/refractory neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma with the goal of finding a cure for these patients.  The Thompson Foundation donation this year is helping to fund clinical trial support for new therapeutics including DFMO treatment to prevent children with neuroblastoma from relapsing and the initiation of a new study of Tolcapone for children with relapsed and refractory neuroblastoma.  This research and these therapies are critical to improving the outcomes of children with cancer and the NMTRC along with the Thompson Foundation are committed to making these studies available to our patients.

About the Foundation

The Ronan Thompson Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to finding a cure for neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. We are currently fundraising to create a world-class neuroblastoma research and care center dedicated to funding both traditional and non-traditional treatments to reduce the number of children affected by this disease and increase survival rates.
